The Vigor of Man. His Mental and Physical Health Depends Upon a Strong and Robust System [i.e.,] How to Make Life a Success ad Keep Happiness in the Home. [wrapper title]

A scarce patent medicine tract exploiting the sexual ailments of men

Atwater 689.1 notes that the front wrap’s illustration of a woman playing a piano, with a man standing at her side, disguised the potentially embarrassing contents within. It also served as manly mark to attain; that of a happy domestic life without sexual excess or sexual diseases.

Atwater: “Dr. Knapp Invigorants are advertised to cure impotents, ‘deficient power,’ premature ejaculation, spermatorrhea, varicocele, ‘atrophy or shrinkage of the penis’ and urinary difficulties.” An ephemeral work of patent medicine and quackery.
