Bright clean copy of this sports compendium

A 1940s edition of a pamphlet first appearing in the late 19th century. As the title suggests, the majority of the text is devoted to the instruction of boxing, swimming, and gymnastics. Throughout the text are illustrations from the 19th-century edition that perhaps appeared antiquated to its 1940s readership.

The rear wrapper lists boxing’s world heavyweight champions. Joe Lewis is listed as champ from 1937 to 1948. This item is fragile per the poor paper quality that was used in its production. Its primary appeal is found in its illustrated wrappers which are remarkably fresh and clean.
